Entonces yo... ¡¡Yo también renunciaré a todo para vencer!!

Explicación del final por parte de SE

Seeking control over this realm and its abundant crystal resources, the Garlean Empire (a scientifically advanced nation hailing from the north) begins gathering an army of epic proportions. To ready themselves for the coming conflict, the city-states of Eorzea reinstate the Grand Companies─comprehensive centers of command which combine the commonwealths’ military and economic assets. However, the commander of the invading forces, VIIth Imperial Legion Legatus Nael van Darnus (a.k.a. “White Raven”), has plans of his own. Driven by madness, he silently plots to usher in a more permanent form of devastation: Meteor.

The Meteor project is comprised of a complex scheme employing arcane magicks and lost technology to summon the lesser moon down to Eorzea in an attempt to annihilate the realm’s inhabitants in one fell stroke. Dalamud, as the celestial object is commonly known, is revealed to be a colossal machine launched thousands of years ago into the planet’s orbit by an ancient civilization.

Realizing the futility of standing alone against such a threat, the Grand Companies put aside deep-rooted differences and consolidate their forces under the banner of the Eorzean Alliance.

At the behest of this new confederation, adventurers from across the realm take up arms and march on the floating islands of Rivenroad. Here, the brave heroes confront Nael van Darnus, and after a heated battle, put him to the sword. But by this time, the White Raven’s plan is too far along, and Dalamud continues its descent.

In an eleventh-hour bid to save mankind, the Grand Companies turn to Louisoix, an enigmatic scholar hailing from the forgotten city-state of Sharlayan. The ‘Archon,’ as he is called, devises a plan to summon the power of the Twelve, Eorzea’s pantheon of guardian deities, and use that power to banish Dalamud back to the heavens. But for this to succeed, the rite needs to be performed directly beneath the point of Dalamud’s impact. After several sleepless nights of deliberation by the realm’s foremost arcanists and astronomers, that point is determined to be a vast swathe of barren lowlands in central Eorzea known as the Carteneau Flats. With this information in hand, the Grand Companies order the immediate mobilization of their forces.

Unbeknownst to the Alliance, the soldiers of the VIIth Imperial Legion, oblivious to their leader’s dark intentions, have also begun gathering in central Eorzea. Ordered to defend the area with their lives, they prepare for a fight, unaware that victory will bring about their own demise.

And so, with two great hosts amassed, the Battle of Carteneau begins.

Both sides fight with a desperation-fueled frenzy, neither yielding the other ground, until from the skies, a great roar issues. Dalamud has begun its final metamorphosis. In a matter of moments, the stone and metal of the moon’s crust crumble away to reveal none other than the elder primal, Bahamut, now free from his ancient prison.

And thus do the people of Eorzea learn what it is that truly faces them. Never was it the White Raven’s intention to blight the realm with Dalamud, but what slumbered within it.

Enraged after aeons of duress, Bahamut unleashes his wrath upon the realm, spewing forth endless fire and destruction. Louisoix quickly conjures a barrier to protect what remains of the Eorzean Alliance, and then begins the arcane rite that will channel the power of the Twelve and focus it into rebinding Bahamut. The sheer force of the primal, however, is too strong for even the Archon, and his efforts fail.

Realizing the end is nigh, Louisoix summons the last of his strength to call upon Althyk, the Keeper, god of space and time, to send those surviving heroes into an aetherial rift, where they are to remain untouched by the passing of the seasons until it is once again safe to emerge…and continue their struggle to forge Eorzea’s future.

Final Fantasy 14 to offer developer PvP, including against CEO

Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada will take to the battlefield to engage Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn fans in PvP.

Producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed plans for VIP PvP in a developer Q&A session on Twitter, as helpfully collated by Siliconera.

“There are multiple people from the development team who put a lot of thought into the PvP system and we currently do have plans to implement a system where players will be able to fight against the development team. As an additional note, we have plans for players to be able to fight Wada for an event,” he said.

The rest of the session includes plenty of information of high interest to current players, like new mounts, environments, and features, but Yoshida also promised to provide a new roadmap of A Realm Reborn’s development and release, copping to a delay.

“Currently we are about two months and two weeks behind schedule compared to the road map that was released on October 14,” he admitted.

“The main reason of the delay is the vast amount of adjustments that needed to be taken care of two months ago. We’re starting to prepare for the Beta Test which we would like to implement at the end of January or early February. However, we are doing our best to make it so we can have the servers open 24 hours to allow for more and more players to participate in the Alpha Test, so please hang in there a bit longer for finalized details.”

Dengeki interview summary

Here's the summary of the Dengeki interview. As always, no guarantees for translation correctness. Blue are my comments, rest was present in the interview. I left out some fluff, leaving only the bare points, maybe Rein will want to translate it fully. Yoshida-san talked a lot about their reasons for everything they are doing and he's being honest and straightforward about it, which I like.

       Alpha

Alpha -> Wipe -> Beta, to not risk dragging any data bugs from alpha to beta
alpha is currently the minimal niveau they want to have
Once again a reminder from YoshiP: "alpha" = "stress test", not "play the game"
Global alpha will start end of the month
Plans are to get a lot of people in, if login counts drop, more will be invited. Aiming for a login rate of 60% of invited players.
PR will be parallel to alpha, for example promoting characters not usable in alpha [I'm guessing he means new races?]

       Beta

           Beta content packaging started
           Beta will be next year
           Controller UI will become available
Phase 1 will once again be a (closed) stress test
in Phase 2 they will increase the amount of participants
Phase 3 will make our saved data available
All races will be present in the beta version
Not all animations will be present for all races, so dummy animations will be used (for example, miqo'te ears not visible on a helm)

       story of ARR

something similar to 4 heroes of light of FFI
end of era trailer has a continuation -> opening of ARR
ARR is set 5 years after end of 1.0, why world has recovered so fast is related to what happened in the last moments between Louisiox and Bahamut. Will be the main of the 3 storylines in ARR until the first expansion and will explain about the Allag Empire, Dalamud, why Bahamut was sealed and what became of Louisiox.
           2 other storylines:
               conflict with Garlemard
first goal of the empire is to stop the beast tribes
                   conquest is only secondary
               fight against the primals
aether energy is same as FFVII lifestream: use (summoning) damages planet, needs to be stopped
           story will be episodic
first ep: conclusion of the 7th umbral era catastrophe (cap still lv50)
"Ishgard", "Recovery of Ala Mhigo", and "The Garlean Empire" used as examples for new story episodes/expansions
old 1.0 story got scrapped, however the essence is still there.

       FATE

           every participant gets a reward
start will be announced in the field
           event flow:
-> get close to the area
-> party is autoformed + level synched
           -> fulfill objective
-> reward based on damage and participation time
no timers to be able to participate again

      Housing

           S-sized land = S-sized house
no expansions; if you want a bigger piece of land, you have to buy it (full price)
if you don't need land, you can sell it to the NPC
moving to another patch of land is also possible
a newly bought house comes without any furniture
apparently, in L-size houses you can distribute the space inside to make own rooms. [Not sure I got that correctly]

       Cities

LL & Ul'dah won't be shown a little longer. Both maps and the cities were changed.
"Universal design": all DoW Guilds are marked red, no matter the city
What was changed was mostly the ways between point of interest, making them shorter.
In case of LL, floor textures were changed to better distinguish between lower and upper floors.
Ul'dah's gate MIGHT be able to open now.

       PS3 Version

PS3 Beta after PC Beta enters phase 3
Aiming for about 40 players visible on screen
           additional to that, 4 M-Sized or 1 L-sized monster
since there will be LOD, you won't get the impression there are only 40 models visible on screen.
           PS3 version coming along nicely
More about the PS3 version at the beginning of 2013

       Misc

You won't be able to use macros from 1.0
Safe to delete the old client, but don't throw away you registration codes! [probably needed to DL ARR CE?]
Both PS3 preorder and collector's edition will have a bonus
All music in alpha is by SOKEN
Dev team size is currently 9 times the size of the original team
Bahamut design comes from Hiroyuki Nagamine, base by Akihiko Yoshida. Naoki Yoshida requested for Bahamut to be less mechanic and more leaned towards classic design, so that everyone seeing him would instantly recognize him.
He thought about voicing the NPCs too, but decided against it to favor faster update cycles. Voicing 4 languages takes too long, and should new languages be added, it would take even longer.

¿Tu crees? , una vez visto el diseño, yo diría que son bastante distintos

EDIT: (por si no se vé, como me pasa a mi a veces con capturas de las revistas online japonesas: Bahamut )

No he ido a mirar el del XI, pero lo recuerdo de otra forma.
